The Weekend Program

Each weekend program begins at 9:00am in the Amphitheater of Gregory Canyon, Boulder Canyon, or Eldorado State Park in Boulder, CO. After introductions, the students discuss what they are committed to getting out of the program. The rest of the morning is spent learning the climbing protocols, proper use of communication signals, knot tying, harness use, and belaying techniques. During the afternoon, the students test not only their new skills, but also their threshold for trust by attempting several simple top rope climbs. Throughout the first day, safety and strong communication are central themes.

With a full day of success behind them, the students return with confidence to the site for a second intensive day of climbing. After a basic review of safety and skills, the students are pushed throughout the day to attempt more difficult climbs. This exhausting day ends with a powerful review of both the student's commitment and the results of their efforts. The final conversation reveals the power that this weekend of intense challenge brings to the lives of these youth. The physical challenge is in itself a great opportunity for the youth. Combined with the structure of the coaching, this program encourages phenomenal breakthroughs in the youth's perception of themselves and their place in society.
